Black Island Farm

You know the saying sometimes pictures speak louder than words.
Well I believe that I do, may not seem like at it times, but I do.
Tonight you are getting that, but not cause these pictures are terribly spectacular.
But cause I have a cold that is making me cry just a little bit.
I am going to bed and hoping miracuoulsly it's gone by tomorrow.
Otherwise this mommy just might not make it through all the craziness that tomorrow is bringing.

We went to Black Island Farm yesterday.
It's a favorite tradition, one of the best.
Lance was MIA all night tagging along with Carson.
Luke got lost numerous times.
And Little K was in full swing a force to be reckoned with that girl.
She can keep up with the boys no problem!

(She was too darn cute, to limit these shots to just one picture.)

Golden sun flare I kinda love it!

And my favorite of the night, sometimes all a girl needs is her daddy, her baby and a pumpkin!

Hope your Halloween is a good one!

Pinned Halloween Edition

It's Halloween weekend! Are we all excited? I am! The kids are! That's a lot of exclamations marks, I really am trying to tell myself I am excited. Truth be told Monday has me worn out just thinking about it, two class parties, one costume parade, four sets of grandparents, trick or treating, a hour or two in the car. And the kicker Eric has a night class he teaches on Monday's, I am flying solo folks! Should be fun, exhausting but fun!

I am pinning fool, sometimes my blog gets neglected because of my love for pinning. To get us all just a little more in the mood for the coming week here is some inspiration. I have had all of these on my to do lists the last few weeks, but somehow my lists just keep growing instead of getting shorter.

There's something wrong with that!

So chances are I won't get to any of these the next few days but hey maybe one of you will and there is always next year right!

Pumpkin white hot chocolate now this is actually on my to do list tonight. I have all the ingredients to throw this together while we watch our annual "It's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown". Put that along with our popcorn and candy corn and we have ourselves a good movie night. I will let you know how it turns out!

Every year growing up my mom had our front door decked out for the holidays. A fall arrangement and a Christmas arrangement. I adored it, I dropped the ball myself in this department. I toss up a cute welcome mat and wreath and call it good. Next year I am going big, garland and all. Maybe a giant blow up pumpkin even, or heck maybe I will just settle for a few pumpkins on the porch. Cause yup I have yet to do that either, I am sorry kids your mother is a huge Halloween disappointment!

Hot chocolate spoons! How fun are these, I kinda love them. That's it next year on Halloween I am staying home passing out candy and making hot chocolate spoons. Grandparents you are on your own! Just kidding, kinda.....

Cinnamon roll pumpkin vanilla sheet cake. I plan on making this Sunday afternoon to go along with dinner. You can never have too much pumpkin, thankfully I married someone who agrees. He is on full support for all of these pumpkin recipes I keep pinning. There is a few more I hope to get to come November.

And just so you don't think I spend my whole time pinning away and never following through with anything I pin.......

Here is proof to you and Eric.
Okay really to Eric who laughs at me every time I come up with a new idea I am "for sure going to do". See proof in the follow through.

I loved the idea of having a to be returned basket right by the back door in my newly organized under the stairs closet.

TA-DA!
Now stop that laughing I didn't say it was a huge project.
Never mind it only took me five minutes to put together.
It's done, I did something I saw on Pinterest, proof the twenty minutes here and there are not just for guilty pleasure.
I mean Eric now we have a to be returned basket, I know you have always wanted one.

And cause I know you want to know what's in my basket.
I'll tell ya.
Old school church videos, yes we still have a VCR that works, thank you very much.
My grandmas scriptures, don't ask me why I have them?
A birthday present for a friend of Luke's.
And my mom's glue gun, cause I am 28 years old and don't have my own.
I just told you a little bit too much about myself I own a VCR and I don't own a glue gun.

See perfect fit in the closet!
Doesn't get much better than that!

Just ask little K!
We take our return basket serious around here.

Hope your Halloween weekend is off to a great start!

October Days

This is not a post on my new best friend like I promised. Turns out I need help with that post, it has some technical difficulties I am not so great with. However Eric....he will be great with it. I just need him around to help me is all. But that's okay cause I only have about ten posts in the works right now. I am just a little behind, I always have so many ideas to post only problem is I never have the time to post them. You too? That can't just be a me problem! Tell me it's an us problem!

Here is a few October days for you!

General conference....yes.....yes I know it was weeks ago. I told you I was behind. But I had to show this picture cause it makes me smile lots. We printed up a packet for the boys to work on while they..... ahem....."listened". One of the projects was draw a picture of the general authorities as they spoke. President Eyring up there with the glasses has never looked so good! Not to mention the gray balding hair Lance gave him......kids don't sugar coat things. I hate to see how I would be represented, pretty sure he would draw a picture of these last five baby pounds I am still trying to lose!

For the longest time I can't remember Utah having a true Fall. We always go straight from hotter than hot to snow all over the ground. But the last few weeks have been glorious here. Cool and crisp in the mornings, and beautiful in the afternoons. Light jackets, scarves and boots weather indeed. I am sure it is ending soon, in fact I know it is according to the weather report. But we sure have enjoyed it while it lasted. Nothing worse than having to wear a coat over your Halloween costume as a kid. I remember one year having my dad drive us around trick or treating in the snow it was so bad. Come on hold out a few more days Utah!
We are still frequent customers of McDonald's......I wonder if and when that will ever change.
With the way I love their cokes.
And the way the boys love their happy meal toys.
I have a feeling we will be friends for a really long time.....

I was kinda worried about being the Art appreciation volunteer in Lance's class seeing as how I have no artistic bone in my body. But the first lesson was so darn fun, his class is great. And when you hear "Lance your mom is awesome", more than a few times....you kinda start thinking maybe you are pretty awesome at least in the eyes of six year olds. Heck I'll take it! Boost my ego however I can get it.

My shadow, man I love our mornings together.

Loubird and his entourage aka....."mickey" blanket, on the way to school.
I cringe at the sight of that blanket, the way he hauls that thing everywhere.
It's a major germ trap, even straight from the washing machine I don't trust that it.
I hold it like you would a dead mouse by the tail......sorry is that gross?
I think that was gross.

Just a cute little scene out my front window one afternoon.

With Halloween right around the corner we have had one too many excuses to have treats laying around. Those pink boxes held about a dozen cupcakes. The best one being the maple with maple cream cheese frosting......oh it kills me every time.

This right here was dinner a few nights ago.
This is what I like to call a little bribe.
The boys go into a state of depression on the nights Eric teaches late.
It devastates them he won't be around to read them stories in the voice of Doofenshmirtz.
But boys mommy makes you dinners of caramel apples and mummy hot dogs when daddy is not around to roll his eyes at our food of choice.
Who needs Doofenshmirtz when you can eat junk food and call it dinner.
I win at the coolest parent, not daddy!

Which brings us to the Pumpkin Walk a few nights ago.

We were going to go for FHE (Family Home Evening) on Monday night, but then I realized it closed the next day. Monday night in Utah, the day before it closed.....I had a feeling that would be a really bad idea.
Unless we wanted to deal with the masses of people who also thought it would make a great FHE. So I opted for taking the kids in the afternoon and showing the pictures to Eric for FHE.

Same thing right? That's just as fun and a lot less crowded!
Besides that Eric just went crazy over the pictures.
He loves a good hundred pictures of painted pumpkins!
Who wouldn't?

Yup up until a few days ago I was wearing flip flops. I know I know not acceptable for October but it was warm!

A few favorites were the Angry Birds, Candy Land, Winnie the Pooh, and of course Phineas and Ferb......featuring Doofenshmirtz himself.

The colors are pretty amazing right now. Cache valley is gorgeous in the Fall.

See Baby K's bee sting right there on her eye?
Oh so sad, and this is nothing.
The poor thing could not even get her eye open it puffed up so big.
She's doing much better now, thank goodness.

And I leave you with Harry Potter, Lance pulls that look off well!
