(scenes from Thanksgiving)
It was such a great day.
We started out with the traditional Macy's Thanksgiving day parade, how can you not love that? Oh the memories. I had one assignment in the kitchen for our feast that day....sweet potatoes. So I had to at least make my sweet potatoes a little something special, you know I don't want to fail my one assignment. My mom found a great copycat recipe of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse sweet potato souffle. Yup they were good.
We headed down to our Smith family to spend the day with all of our family. For the first time in as long as I can remember all five brothers were there with their families for Thanksgiving dinner. It was so wonderful, and I have a family of really great cooks. Oh Amanda I can just taste that stuffing still, and my mother in laws rolls.
My favorite moment of the day was those three little sweethearts seated on Grandma's piano bench. Playing the keys so gently and in the most quiet sweetest voices ever singing "I am a child of God". Oh melt my heart....of course the second I pulled Grandma and Grandpa in the room to delight in their grandchildren nobody would continue. But I saw and it was precious.
Onto to my mom's for turkey sandwiches and not one but three pieces of pie. And I was a happy stuffed Thanksgiving turkey.
A most perfect day indeed.
Ending with a tired girl in the glow of the Christmas tree lights.
Oh happy time of year, I love you!

Thankful
Every year on the eve of Thanksgiving I love to do a quick Thankful post of all the little tiny details in my life that make it oh so blessed and beautiful.
Sure I am thankful for the big stuff but it after all is truly the little things in life that keep the smile on my face. It gives you the energy to keep going even when life seems a little too hard or a little too unfair. It can be so easy to forget all that good in this life and focus on the not so pleasant.
I have been doing a little activity this month every day on instagram to document the little things that bring a smile to my face daily. Those moments when my heart feels it might burst out of love and appreciation for all of my many blessings. It feels so good to look for the joy in even the most simplest and perhaps mundane of days.
Here is a peek at what is making me smile right now and perhaps a few more in between because let's face it life is good and most days I have way too many things to be thankful for than just one measly little moment.
--Thankful for the ability to be able to drop my to do list when Lou's teacher calls to say his FM system isn't working, could I come be his shadow for the day? Thankful for really great teachers.
--Thankful for my Luke and his sparkling personality, man that boy is a happy kid. He teaches me so much.
--Thankful for sunny warm weather and ninja boys.
--Thankful for good neighborhood friends, we are never without little buddies and it warms my heart to see the friendships blossom.
--Thankful for dates with Eric but thankful for the sweet faces we come home to even more.
--Thankful for Fall football, it makes my husband really really happy.
--Thankful for Sunday baking pumpkin chocolate chip bread.
--Thankful for cozy Sunday evenings spent at home with just my little family, so glad we are able to find so much joy within the walls of our home.
--Thankful for McDonald's pies. Holiday pie you might be my very favorite.
--Oh okay I am really thankful for McDonald's coke, you are for sure my favorite.
--Thankful it's the most wonderful time of the year!
--Thankful my mother taught me the art of home making, I take so much pride in making my house a cozy little nest apart from this big scary world. A safe haven for my family.
--Thankful for my nightly reading of Harry Potter with Lance. Best twenty minutes of my day.
--Thankful for my little mini me Lance, our personalities are so much alike it's quite scary. Love that boy, a big brother at his finest. So grateful his siblings have him leading the way.
--Thankful for comfort food at it's finest -- home made sausage link maccaroni and cheese.
--Thankful for my talents and for the ability to recognize them.
--Thankful for the best Thanksgiving dinner you will ever have at my mommy's house!
--Thankful for little girls who like to lick the beaters.
--Thankful that even though I made zero progress today on Christmas decorating, these two are loving all the boxes!
--Thankful for the friendships my children have with each other. My heart swells to see them love one another.
--Thankful for nights off in the kitchen...kids dinner german pancakes, my dinner Costa Vida.
--Thankful for my sisters, I can't imagine a life without them by my side.
--Thankful for cozy feet.
--Thankful for the ability to clothe my children, feed my family and have shelter over our head. Most of all thankful for a hard working husband that provides for his family.
--Thankful for cozy evenings including a clean house, good soup, a few good movies and a glass of egg nog.
--Thankful for the ability to be passionate and find joy in the things that bring me true happiness.
Life would be no fun if we didn't have things that thrilled us to the very core.
--Thankful for my sweet mommy who every year comes and makes my Christmas village come alive.
--Thankful for a mother that taught me by example. All that is good in me comes from her, my hero.
--Thankful for Saturday morning waffles.
--Thankful my kids like peanut butter on their waffles just like their daddy.
Oh and maybe a little honey butter cause that Loubird marches to the beat of his own drum.
--Thankful for this sweet grandmother, so grateful for her influence in my life. This year in particular has been a hard one for her, I sure do love her.
--Thankful for an amazing family surrounding me in every corner. My people I love them so much.
--Thankful for family traditions, decorating the boys tree is a favorite, those ornaments hold a lot of special memories.
--Thankful for my little K. That girl holds my heart, she has me wanting to scream one second and then all it takes is those little hands around my neck, a little kiss on the cheek, and an "I just wuv you mom." Melt me now.
--Thankful for Sound Beginnings. Not only have they changed Luke's life but they throw a darn good Thanksgiving feast!
--Thankful for my miracle boy Luke, this kindergarten year has been amazing, so grateful for the continual progress that boy is making. So proud of my Loubird.
--Thankful that my husband never listens to me when I say no holiday treats.
--Thankful for my eternal companion, my better half in every way, he makes my life a treasured one and he keeps me laughing. I love him for that.
--Thankful that I am now going to go eat that peppermint ice cream guilt free because hey the holidays are here!
Happy Thanksgiving my friends!
I hope it's a truly blessed day for all of us.
